This Privacy Policy describes how (“we”, “us”, or “the service”) handles information when you use our resume-to-job-description comparison tool.
What we collect
When you run a comparison, you may submit:
- A resume file (YAML, PDF, or DOCX), which may include employment history, skills, education, and contact details
- Job description text or a plain-text job description file
- Optional metadata such as company name and role title
- Technical data needed to operate the service, such as request timestamps and error logs
We do not require an account to use the comparison tool.
How we use your information
We use submitted content only to:
- Extract and parse resume and job description text
- Run compare-only alignment analysis (overlap, gaps, confidence signals, and findings)
- Generate comparison artifacts such as alignment reports and digests
- Operate, secure, and improve the service
We do not use your uploads to build a portfolio, rewrite your resume, or train our own models on your content.
Third-party processing (OpenAI)
Semantic concept matching requires sending portions of your content to OpenAI. Specifically, job-description concepts and selected resume evidence snippets (not necessarily your entire uploaded file) may be transmitted to OpenAI’s API to evaluate alignment.
OpenAI’s handling of that data is governed by its own policies, including the OpenAI Privacy Policy and applicable API terms. We do not control OpenAI’s retention or subprocessors.
Storage and retention
Comparison runs are stored on the server that hosts the service. Stored artifacts may include your uploaded resume copy, extracted resume text, job description snapshots, alignment JSON, digests, and run metadata.
Retention periods may vary by deployment. Before and after public launch, we may implement automated deletion schedules. You may request deletion of data associated with your comparison by contacting us at .
Local storage
The web interface stores your theme preference (light or dark) in your browser’s localStorage.
That preference is not uploaded to our servers.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- With service providers necessary to run comparisons (such as OpenAI for semantic matching)
- With infrastructure providers that host the application
- When required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the service
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect submitted content. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you submit content at your own risk.
Your choices
- Do not upload content you are not comfortable sharing with us and our subprocessors
- Contact us to request deletion of stored comparison data
- Clear browser local storage to remove saved theme preferences
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
International users
If you access the service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
